Bravo Runners!

Monday, July 1, 2013

Karine entered the Canada Day Game of Life 5K Run, starting at the Ontario entrance to the Alexandra Bridge and finishing on Laurier Street at Jacques Cartier Park. Changing Lives Through Sport supports the social development of individuals, communities and organizations within Commonwealth countries using the transformative power of sport. All registration proceeds from the run go to support the Bowling Out AIDS program, a sport for development initiatives in the Caribbean.

Her run started at 8:10 a.m. She and her friend/neighbour Isabelle were keen to begin. The Bowman family cheered them on. The boys finished their breakfast. Sam hugged his Maman and off the runners went.

Check out Karine's race video!

Kirk, boys, Grandpa and Barbara crossed the bridge to cheer the runners. They were happy to see old friends Rodney and his girls. As they watched the runners come in, Sam clapped and clapped. Maman and Isabelle ran into the finish together - 27 minutes!

While waiting for Maman to get her medal, Samuel checked out his shoe size with Maurice Richard's skate. Maman joined them and they hiked over the bridge to run the family race together. Isabelle's family was running too.

The 1K Kid’s Run/Walk began at 9:00 a.m. from the same location.

It was a good race - everyone made it!

Suddenly we saw Robin, who had just finished the 10km race. She was celebrating with Matt and Owen. Owen has a lot of teeth!

After the race it was time for a snack and time to reflect on Changing Lives Through Sport. A happy way to start Canada Day.
